This is one of those songs where the lyrics drive music. I actually recorded this before I was capable of performing it live. If you figure out who the song is about, the title makes sense.
lyrics
There once was a Wilde man,
who roamed the avenues,
of old London town,
though his ways were queer,
and his tongue acerbic,
his genius did abound.
He was shaped as a Bedouin home,
or like a bear,
or perhaps a dirigible upon the air,
but he dressed in fashions finest,
fit for a lady's boudoir,
where he would never appear.
To weave tales, he was wont,
about villains both ageless and egregious,
or young lady's shallow and silly,
in pursuit of a suitor,
or a simple verse,
of gallows infamy.
And well he is remembered still,
for his love of art aesthetic,
and disdain for maiden fair,
as well a painting of a man,
his time in Gaol for love,
and his death penny spare.
